Hands-On Learning: SGU Medical Workshops Inspire Future Physicians in Africa

St. George’s University (SGU), School of Medicine, recently conducted two impactful Medical Workshops in Nairobi and Johannesburg, providing aspiring doctors with hands-on medical experience and insights into the path to becoming a physician.

The workshops, held on June 28 in Nairobi and June 24 in Johannesburg, featured hands-on clinical training, mentorship from SGU faculty and alumni, and admissions insights.

SGU’s Provost, Professor Glen Jacobs, and Regional Director for Africa, Bradley Wade, shared their expertise and experiences.

According to Bradley Wade, Regional Director for Africa,”We are proud to empower the next generation of doctors by bringing the SGU experience closer to them. These workshops not only provide a practical introduction to medicine but also open the door to a global medical education.”

Participants acquired practical medical skills, including suturing and blood pressure assessments, and explored the SGU MD program and global healthcare opportunities.

Participants also gained hands-on experience in key clinical skills, including suturing and blood pressure assessments.

Each attendee received a branded suture kit and blood pressure kit to continue refining their skills.- SGU has a strong track record of success, including an 88% average residency placement rate over the past five years.

By hosting these workshops, SGU continues to support future healthcare professionals across Africa, providing them with the skills and knowledge necessary to succeed in the medical field.
