Mrs. Elzeba Busienei has officially been sworn in as the new City Manager of Eldoret, marking a significant step in the city’s ongoing transformation and development.
The swearing-in ceremony took place at the Uasin Gishu County headquarters and was presided over by Governor Jonathan Bii. Also in attendance was Deputy Governor Hon. Kapkea Evans, along with senior county officials and invited guests.
Governor Bii praised the appointment as a reflection of the county’s commitment to professional, inclusive, and results-driven leadership.
“The City of Eldoret is rising—bold, vibrant, and full of promise. Mrs. Busienei’s appointment affirms our dedication to leadership that serves the people and delivers results,” said Governor Bii. “She has our full confidence and support as we build a city that mirrors the hopes and dignity of our residents.”
Mrs. Busienei, who brings extensive experience in public administration, takes over the city’s top role at a time of rapid urban growth. Her duties will include overseeing city operations, improving service delivery, and coordinating key infrastructure and planning initiatives.
In her remarks, Busienei pledged to uphold accountability and work closely with all stakeholders to ensure Eldoret continues on its path toward becoming a modern, inclusive, and well-managed city.
“I am honored to serve the people of Eldoret in this capacity. Together, we will build a city that is efficient, inclusive, and responsive to the needs of all residents,” she said.
Deputy Governor Kapkea Evans described the appointment as a strategic move toward strengthening urban governance and ensuring that Eldoret maintains its momentum as a leading city in the North Rift region.
Eldoret was officially conferred city status in 2023 and continues to experience growth in population, infrastructure development, and investment. The position of City Manager is key in coordinating municipal departments and implementing urban development policies.
